This small and delightful town takes its name from the famous Iron Bridge, the world’s first bridge constructed of iron, and the symbol of the Industrial Revolution. This extraordinary structure dominates the area, set in a deep gorge within the beautiful Shropshire countryside. The Ironbridge Gorge became part of a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986, and is now a must on most peoples ‘places to visit’ list!
If you like to be active and enjoy fun-filled weekends, Ironbridge is for you! There is something for all ages, from museums, monuments and buildings of historical importance, to boutiques and gastro delights. Have a competitive streak? Why not get involved in the annual Coracle Regatta
For the kids, Coalbrookdale & Ironbridge CE Primary School is Ofsted outstanding, and with so many family events, learning activities, and nature in close proximity, this is an excellent place for anyone to settle down.
