Meet Joanne Godwin

Our brilliant Lettings Negotiator, Joanne Godwin, is sharing an insight into her daily role at Coleman Estates, what she’s currently aiming for and some top tips for buyers. Get to know a bit more about Joanne below…

How long have you worked at Coleman Estates, and what do you like most about it?

3 years! I love the job and the people I work with. I also love the thriving atmosphere throughout the office; everyone in the office are very friendly, and Max and Kate are very likeable bosses who treat you like a family member instead of just an employee.

What does your role involve?

Lettings Negotiator – booking viewings, accompanying viewings, viewing feedback, attending inspections, completing check-in/out inventory reports, negotiating with landlords and applicants, taking properties on (taking photos), property spot checks and general landlord liaison.

Did you know about Coleman Estates before you joined the team?

Yes, I had seen some boards around the Newport area which is where I lived at the time.

What made you want to join Coleman Estates?

I wanted to enhance my estate agency skills to a high standard and loved the idea of joining a family business. It’s delightful to work here, and every day is a blessing coming into work to a job I love.

What has been your biggest achievement so far?

Coleman Estates has improved my confidence massively. I have learnt so much in the last 3 years and I’m so grateful to have been given this opportunity to increase my knowledge of estate agency. I have even completed my NVQ Level 2 Residential and Management course this year. Max and Kate are also giving me the push forward to enter into a Level 3 qualification!

Have you dealt with any memorable properties over the past 12 months?

We have recently let a property that sits in the grounds of Eyton Hall which was previously a Porter’s Lodge – one of the walls was purposely built without windows as the staff were prohibited from looking directly at the hall! Luckily the rest of the property has lovely views over the grounds.

Have there been any challenging moments? How did you deal with them?

Lettings is a fast-paced and dynamic environment with different challenges every day; no two days are the same! Any problems I have are overcome with the support of my director Kate Coleman.

Describe Coleman Estates in three words.

Friendly, positive and professional.

What’s your top tip for selling/letting a home?

Honesty.

What’s your top tip for buyers?

If a buyer is looking to buy and rent out a property, I would suggest a property near local schools as the majority of our tenants have families/children.

How can you help clients to sell/let their home?

Being proactive.

What do you like to do on your time off?

Walk my German Shepherd, Leo, spend time with my partner, going to the gym, cooking new recipes, spending time with friends, and shopping!
